Uniform

At Tate Street our students wear their uniform with pride.  Our jumpers are available from the administration office and the rest of our uniform is online at Eduthreads.  Bottle green generic uniform is also available at Target and other department stores.  Hats are worn outside in accordance with the SunSmart policy

In Grade 6, students wear a personalized rugby jumper for their final year with us.

We supply school sports and athletics tops that students wear on sports days when they are out representing our school.

Community Engagement

School Council

The Tate St PS School Council meets twice per term on the school grounds. We currently have 8 parent category members, 4 department category members and 1 co-opted community member. Our school council president is Carly Jehu.

Nominations for school council occur at the beginning of each year. Please contact Tony if you are interested in volunteering.

Parents & Friends

The Parents & Friends Committee meet several times per term and plan/facilitate multiple fantastic events throughout the school year.

These include Fathers, Mothers and Special Person’s Day stalls, Special Lunch Days, The Colour Explosion Run event, cake stall, Bunnings BBQ’s, and the annual Trivia Night.

If you are interested in finding out more, contact: natasha_longo@@hotmail.com

Chook Roster

We have five chooks that need care on weekends and holidays. This involves letting them out of their secure enclosure, topping up their water and food, and collecting their eggs.

More details can be found here.

Volunteering

There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer to help the school community. These include through working bees, event days and excursions. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Tony or your child's classroom teacher.

Extracurricular Activities

MarimbaTaters

The MarimbaTaters, a marimba performance group of students in grade 4 to 6, is the culmination of a sequential program of learning which students can begin in grade 2 with the Training Taters group. The MarimbaTaters perform at music festivals, corporate events and school events. The band is available for workshops and performances.

Afterschool Basketball

We are lucky enough to have two school basketball teams compete in afterschool competition on a Thursday. Both teams, one who compete in 3/4 and the other in 5/6, train on the quad after school on Wednesday and are supported by parent volunteer coaches.

School Clubs

A number of school clubs are offered throughout the year to students at Tate Street Primary School. These include Chess Club, Girls Glub, Student Voice & Agency, and Calm Club every recess.

Clubs available each week are shared on the noticeboard in the quad.

Just Brass

Tate Street Primary School is a participant in the Just Brass program which enables students to access an instrument and lessons on brass instruments.
