Our Programs

At Tate Street Primary School, we offer a comprehensive  program that caters to the diverse learning styles and needs of our students. Our classes are designed to provide a personalised education that helps each child reach their full potential.

Tate St PS has had several schools from around the Barwon area to observe our teachers deliver lessons in Literacy, classroom management strategies, review our Numeracy improvement journey and learn from our Education Support staff.

Literacy

At Tate Street Primary School, we prioritise phonics and phonemic awareness as essential foundations, employing a robust decodable program in the early years. As students’ progress into the senior years, they continue to enhance their reading and writing skills by delving into rich literature exploration.

Numeracy

At Tate Street Primary School, we have a strong focus on Number and Algebra in the early years to firmly establish the foundations of mathematics. As students’ progress in their educational journey, they cultivate proficiency in the four key strands: understanding, fluency, problem-solving, and reasoning. This development occurs through engaging with a variety of open-ended and real-life mathematical challenges.

Specialists

At Tate Street Primary School, students are exposed to a variety of specialist programs including Music, PE, Visual Art, Science and Auslan.

Intervention

We offer comprehensive intervention programs to support the learning of our students. In the early years, we offer an oral language program, with targetted withdrawal programs from Prep to Year 4. We offer high ability extensive programs from Years 4 to 6.

Camps and Extracurriculum Programs

Our school camps program provides all Year 4, 5 and 6 students with the opportunity to experience overnight camps.

We focus on sustainability initiatives, work closely with local secondary schools to assist in transition, and offer both Bike Education and Swimming Programs.
